I have been saving to buy a Zeiss scope and now they have come out with a much less expensive line.. I wanted what I thought was the best and now there are two very distinctive price structures...what are the quality distinctions, which I assume are substantial given the difference in price..

The new Conquest line is made in the U.S.A. and intended to compete against Nikon, Leupold, Weaver, etc. The top of the line VMV is made in Germany and uses totally different glass and coatings. The VMV represents what Zeiss stands for and is made to the best of their ability using the finest glass and coatings available.

THE ZEISS CONQUEST HAVE 1 INCH TUBES VERSUS 30MM TUBES FOR THE VM/V SERIES. THE ZEISS CONQUEST HAS MC LENS COATINGS VERSUS THE T* LENS COATINGS FOR THE VM/V. THE VM/V ARE LIGHTER IN WEIGHT THAN THE CONQUEST SERIES. I WOULD SAY FOR THE MONEY THE ZEISS CONQUEST IS A GREAT BUY BECAUSE THEY HAVE A FULL LIFETIME WARRANTY AND THE ARE VERY BRIGHT SCOPES AND DURABLE SCOPES. IF YOU WANT THE BEST SCOPE IN THE WORLD THEN YOU WILL CHOOSE THE ZEISS VM/V SCOPES MADE IN GERMAY. THE T* LENS COATINGS ARE STILL THE VERY BEST FOR LIGHT TRANSMISSION AND THE VM/V HAS THE WIDEST FIELDS OF VIEW OF ANY RIFLE SCOPE ON THE MARKET. I OWN A ZEISS VM/V 1.5X6X42 T* SCOPE AND A PAIR OF THE ZEISS VICTORY 8X56 T* P* BINOCULARS AND I KNOW I WILL NEVER HAVE TO MAKE THE DECISION ON WHICH BRAND TO CHOOSE. I WOULD SAY SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GET THE GERMAN MADE ZEISS. ZEISS OPTICS ARE TRULY A LIFETIME INVESTMENT.
