I just installed my 3-9X40 Conquest on my Weatherby Vanguard Sub-MOA.  I have always let the gun shop do it, but they did not have warne, so I ordered from here.  I put the scope on and tried to get the scope back as much as possible, so I would not have to creep my head up to get a sight picture.  It seemed there was only one way to put on the bases and mounts (Maxima Series part 201).  I plan to sight it in this weekend.

Are there any watch outs I could have missed.  My assumptions: (ass..)
there is a front and back base.  The back was thicker it seemed??
Can you decide where the base slot lands, or is that decided for you based on gun & base?
I put the screws in from ejection port side.  Make any difference?
The bolt sure comes close to scope.  (My other guns are Browning and Tikka)
How many of you put blue lock tight on after sighting in?

Any thoughts or feedback appreciated before I head to the range.

As long as the screw holes line up you can switch the base around to move the slot one way or the other, your choice.  If one base is thicker than the other then they do have to go specifically in the front or back.

No locktite, ever, on bases or rings. Not necessary with todays screws and you may want to change something.  I have drilled and EZ outed too many screws to count.  Just snug the screw real tight and you're good to go.  I can't remember the last time I had a screw loosen but it's been a long time.

Guns only have 2 enemies, rust and politicians

I just mounted 2 scopes in Warne rings and Weaver bases... I got a Warne wrench so I could get the right amount of torque!  I didn't notice that one was thicker than the other! I wouldn't think you'd have an issue with stock creep with that Conquest, it has 4" of ER.
take em!

Thicker base goes under ocular end of scope.
