I'm new to this forum and i have a question? I currently want to enlist in the U.S. army as an infantry man and then eventually go to sniper school but i'm color blind but only with shades (i can tell the difference between a red light and a green light). Will this effect whether or not i can attend sniper school?

You really need to talk to a recruiter and schedule to take testing at MEPS then they can give you the straight answer.  Snipers usually start as 11Bravo - infantry or cav.  You can sometimes get them to guarantee a specific job but I dont think that one would be guaranteed you would need to go througth basic and during the course of several years if you were particularly good with a rifle and expressed an interest you might get a chance to do that its a process not something you just walk into straight out of basic.  You need to decide if you want a Full time job - active duty  or a part time job - National Guard. I would suggest Ranger school too.  Im rather inclined to say that on average the Marines train their O 311 s much better than Army's 11B but there are some very high speed units within the Army and the Rangers and Special Forces guys are very good at what they do.  There is a very different mindset between Army and Marine the Marines attack and take ground the Army holds ground and occupies.  I just feel like the Marines have better combat training at the initial E1 level.
