I just got a Swarovski AV3-9x36 scope and was wondering what ring finish everybody uses? The scope is listed as matte but my other scopes are really matte finish. The Swarovski looks more like black with a stipple finish that softens the shine - just wondering what others use for their ring finish? Thanks. |

I usually use matt rings for everything and while not a perfect match they are close enough.

Matte rings. I am more concerned with function than looks.

Matte (to match) or stainless (for contrast).

Swarovski used to offer their own rings that were finished very similarly to the scopes, and even had the Swarovski hawk on top of the rings. They quit offering them quite a while, though I still have a pair of 30mm rings. If you really want something to match, you might be able to fidn a use pair of 1" rings. The model I have fits any Redfield-type base.

Thanks Rifledude - those look like they've got my name on it but I haven't seen a base for a T/C Triumph with a front dovetail and rear adj. windage.

As John noted, you can use these rings with any of the "Redfield" (turn-in front / windage rear) style bases offered by Leupold, Burris, etc. I would call their CS people and ask them if one of their base sets is compatible to the Triumph.
However, in all honesty, I have found that just about anyone's matte black finished rings match well enough with the Swaro finish for me.

I'd have to offer the matte suggestion as well. I happen to have a set of the older Swarovski/Talley rings and bases for my Rem M700. They are 30 mm rings and tough to find any more parts for. Talley was nice enough to send me some bases after I found out the rings didn't fit the Talley factory bases. They are a nice setup with the logo on them and a nice matte finish to match the scope.
