 Howdy!

I'm kinda new to matching a scope to a rifle, so I thought I'd ask those who know.

I'm got an AR type rifle that I want to fit a scope on (Bushmaster Carbon 15 M4) http://www.bushmaster.com/shopping/Carbon15/az-c15m4pre.asp

I've pretty well narrowed my choice of scope to the Nikon Monarch UCC 3.3-10x44

https://www.swfa.com/pc-1916-218-nikon-33-10x44-monarch-ucc- riflescope.aspx

Or the Burris 4.5-14x42 Fullfield II Rifle Scope

https://www.swfa.com/pc-9040-203-burris-45-14x42-fullfield-i i-rifle-scope.aspx

Would these be  good choices for me as I'd like to also be able to use it on my 30.06 if I wish?

I'll be mainly just target shooting from 50-200 yards, although a hog hunt may be in the future.

Do you think the adjustable objective is worth the extra $$?  As I said, I'm pretty new to this.

Finally, what kinda mount would you suggest?

I'll have lift the scope up to clear the rear site, not sure about how.

Should I use a spacer like the A.R.M.S. # 5,

Or bite the bullet and get somthing like the #63?

https://www.swfa.com/pc-9154-138-new-arms-63-throw-lever-ris er-mount.aspx

Thanks, and sorry about the long links, I'm not real good at this 'puter stuff either

Personally, I don't think you'll want to switch between two weapons, it is a pain retifying the zeros (even mechanically....they can still be a little off because I'm talking about counting the difference in clicks for windage and elevation when you change over to a different weapon.   Looking at the photo of the bushy, you would need a riser for a tube scope because of the rear sight poking up in the way...either would be fine (don't buy a B-Square...I had one and was disappointed by it having a cheesy roll pin to keep it from moving around).  That being said, I don't think you'd like that type of scope on a shorty, either one of the scopes you mentioned are fine choices for hunting rifles (I'd also add the Bushnell Elite 4200 or Sightron S2 for your consideration), I would try whatever you pick on your bushy with rings high enough to clear the rear sight and decide for yourself.  If you determine you're not a fan of this arrangement (and I think you will) you can then migrate the scope with low rings to your .30-06 (with a piccatinny/weaver type base) and then look at another option (EOTech, Aimpoint, Dual illum ACOG or other CQB set-up) for your shorty.   Buying a riser you may never use might be a problem as would high rings when you'll probably want low or medium ones for your hunting rifle...I would say go with the QD and you could always put an Aimpoint on it with the provided scope ring or other similar arrangement....a practical setup for a carbine should have limited magnification to take advantage of it's quick handling....granted ARs are generally very accurate but I doubt you would need much magnification above 4x practically speaking.  I can't comment on ARMS much, I only have a Swan Rail from them (which I love).  The only throw lever rings I own are the Leupy QRW and they are fine for the money.  Take a cruise through the Tactical Scope forum...there is a lot of discussion on scoping ARs.

 Thanks for the info!

Yea, you probably right about switching the scope from one to the other. I have an SKS that I just changed scopes on, took me 3 boxes of ammo to get it back on target!  PITA!

I am probably gonna have to have some type of riser though, went to a local gun shop last weekend,

they didn't have any mounts high enough to work.

There's a gun show this weekend coming up, believe I'll cruise through and see what I can find.

And I'll check out the tactical forum.  Thanks again.................

I was thinking some more, the upper you have is built to be able to co-witness your irons, not really for a big scope (but more for a CQB app), you could put it forward of your rear sight and probably have enough eye relief (with your nose touching the charging handle.....which I don't care for but some people like) but the problem then becomes there's not enough rail to mount the front end of the size of scope you're talkin.  I have something similiar, an A2 converted to a Mark Brown rail but it is lower  in height so I had to use high rings to mount my Aimpoint, here's a pic....good luck
