Fishing?  I am assuming Icefishing.  Wouldn't a heavy rain weaken the ice for a while at least?

We laugh about it now but it wasn't funny at the time.
I'll put them folk in our prayers.

Sierra madre was evacuated in the middle of the week. Most people left but there were a few people who stayed to see what happens but I think nothing has happened yet luckily

well bud it would but when there is over 12" of solid ice on the lake and 6" of snow on top of that it just adds weight to the ice, the only bad part is that it makes overflow (slush) on the lake. that miserable to deal with sometimes. if i remember next time i go i will try to take a picture inside the ice shelter down hole so you  can see how much ice is there, and by normal accounts the thickness of the ice isnt any where near its norm. when you gotta throw an extension on the auger you know its thick.

I grew up on the beach in Florida,  Wasn't till about 10 years ago that I got to see any of teh great lakes.  I had service work in Ashtabula, Ohio on Lake Erie.  It kinda freaked me out teh 1st time I saw Erie with ice.  Never saw anything like it before.  100+yds of ice then big frozen wave then open water.  Very surreal to me!

An extension?!?!?  Aren't those powered augers about 3" long?  Pictures would be really cool!

Just finished watching the Mecum Auto Auction on the boob tube, WOW I have never seen cars like that!  No stop too, every car had something special about it, last Cuda muscle car built, Petty's Superbird, list goes on and on.  Did you catch it Hunter?

Well, it's snowing here now...
We had the rain and sleet yesterday, sleeted this morning, now all I need is hail and sleet and then EXTREME high winds and cold, and I'll be happy...
