I have a Ruger 10/22, and I am wanting to put a scope on it.  I plan on using the rifle for hunting rabbits, prairie dogs, squirels, and whatever else may pop up.  I live in the desert southwest, and figure on shooting up to about 100 yards.  Originally I was thinking a 4 power fixed scope, but now I've heard reasons for a variable power scope.

So what do you guys think?  A 4 power fixed scope, or say a 3-9 power variable scope?

Most all the "rimfire" fixed power scopes are 4X.  I think you'd be happier with a 3-9.  I just bought a Remington 504 and got a Leupold  3-9 VXII EFR to go on it.  I'll report on it next week.

mwyates.....WELL HOW DID IT GO?  I have my eye on Leupold  3-9 VXII EFR  scope myself.....if sighted in for 50 yards, did you have to refocus for close shots.....I would like to find a good rim-fire scope that from 25 feet to 150 feet that has no parallax problems and no cumbersome adjustments......how did you like your Leupold EFR?
