Following on from a topic I started about 2 months ago where I was getting a Leupold FX-1 4x28...

I decided to get a Weaver Classic Rimfire 4x28 instead. It was $85 (Australian) cheaper than the FX-1 ($220 Vs $305).

Has anyone on here got or used this particular scope??

Secondly, what other 4X scopes are out there at the moment??? (trying to avoid the rubbish)

Anyone got the Zeiss Conquest???

Leupold FX-II???

Nikon Prostaff??? (I don't think I can get this over in Australia)

I'm thinking of getting a cheap centrefire rifle and putting a 4x on it and shooting over 100 metres. Makes a change from all the people I see on my local range who overscope their rifles something shocking. Hiding

There aren't a whole lot of choices these days for fixed power scopes, but the ones we do have are all pretty decent.

I recently purchased the Conquest 4x.   I have only gone out with it once since zeroing, but have made some comparisons in low light conditions, fog, bright light against my Pentax Gameseeker 4x,  Diavari, Swift, Leatherwood M1000, and Springfield Armory Gen III.  The Conquest has better low light performance than the Gameseeker... which surprised me, because the last comparison I made with a variable Conquest, the two were about equal at 4x.  I definitely need more comparison time to give any definitive results, but the Conquest is outstanding in all the conditions I have explored and very competitive with all the glass I have compared against so far.  It has a definite edge over the Swift at 4x, as well.  The Conquest is mounted on my .458 Lott and I have only fired about 10 rounds, but it is holding up so far.  FOV is very good, eye relief is better than advertised.
I really like it and am happy with the purchase.

The Conquest 4x would, I think, be an excellent choice for your 100 metre shooting.

My sweety bought me a Leupold FXII 4X33 for Christmas and I mounted it on a short barrelled model 700 in 6mm. It sits in Warne steel mounts and rings, 6 clicks right and 4 up using only six shots it was ready to hunt with. The next morning I killed a doe at around 150 yards. I'd forgotten how effective the 100 grain soft points worked out of the little 6mm, quit an exit wound.
I've been up and down the power scale with scopes and for deer hunting 4X is hard to beat. Leupold is American made, tough, with top of the line warranty. The FXII's glass seems appropriate for the price point (plenty good for my uses). All in all and after only a short test I'm happy with it but time is the true test.
