Hello everyone, this is my first post here and I have a few questions for you all.

Here's the situation. My dear wife put a Sig 556 on lay-away as a Christmas present for me and I am having problems choosing an optic for it.
I thought about an Eotech but I wear glasses and have pretty bad astigmatism.
So I've been thinking about a low power scope.

One option would be:
Leupold 1.5-5x20 VX-III with heavy duplex or German #4 reticule.
Or:
IOR 4x24 M2 with the CQB or NATO reticule.

The Leupold probably is brighter, lighter and is a variable and over all a nicer scope but the IOR is probably more durable and has a range finding reticule and bdc.
A lot of you will recommend the ACOG but after getting the 556. I'll probably have a hard time getting the ok on a near $1000 scope. But it might be something I upgrade to later and move the cheaper optic to on of my ar's.

The rifle will mostly be used for range fun, zombies, Man bear pigs and and general fondling and lookin at. So, what do you guys think about my choices? If ya'll know of any alternatives. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

Before the laser surgery I too had a astigmatism... I would suggest the variable scope.

Instead of getting tired with trying to focus your eye with a low power scope; just turn the power up.

For the specified purposes, I'd recommend an Aimpoint.  Nothing drops the zombies and manbearpigs like Aimpoint.

Otherwise, I need to inform you that the IOR is every bit as good as the Leupold, and probably much better.

Finally, some around here really like the Millett DMR

but I have neither owned nor shot the Millett so cannot say.

Respect is something you earn.
Equality is something you whine about not being given.
