New to this forum.
My question is how good are the old Tasco (Japan) scopes ?
I just bought an old Tasco single power 24x44mm w/adjustable obj. and turret adjustments w/ two metal sunshades.
I just mounted on a Savage 93R17 JTV and have yet to sight it in.
I used Leupold high rings.
Any comments ?
Thanks

Hi,

I have a couple of the older Tasco TS series scopes that were made in Japan and they have served me well.  I took 1st place for the year in the 500 meter BR matches using a Tasco TS 8-32 scope.  Everyone was teasing me about using a trashco scope and wanted me to change scopes.  I figured,  if I was in 1st place,  why should I change anything?  I took six 1st places,  four 2nd's,  one 3rd,  and one 4th.  Not bad for a trashco scope.  I'll agree there are a lot better scopes out there but the Tasco you have should serve you well.

Catch you later,

The Big Dog

I have an older 4-16x Mag4 that was made in Japan.  The scope holds its point of aim and has not let me down yet.  46 Coyotes and 1000+ prarrie dogs out of my AR-15 would have rather the scope was a piece of #$%^.

Welcome to the OT.

What is the function of your 24X scope (specifically; "making things 24 times bigger" is a given)?  Is it a bench scope, hunting scope, etc?

24X is allot o' "X"s - meaning very high power, very small field of view.  If it suits your needs, great; enjoy the new scope.

Mount it and post pics.
