well the weather is finally starting to turn here in iowa and I cant wait to take my new rifle out and shoot it, all I'm waiting for is the cheek rest. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to answer questions from a new guy, by the way anyone who shoots ARs please let me know of your favorite set-ups for tacticle/target shooting,I bought a bushmaster A3(the type that has the removable carry handle) during the clinton  era ,and would like to turn it into a 200 yard tack driver.

Which is it; tactical or target? To my point of view these are completely different in the AR15. A tactical rifle is made for combat and must be reliable, not that it can't be accurate. A target rifle is made to stack bullits on top of each other, and it needs to be tight to do this and this could effect reliability. OK enough of that rant.
My patrol rifle is a AR15, 16" heavy barrel, CAR hand guards with an attachment point for a M3 light in easy reach of the support hand. When the light is on it lights up the tip of the front sight. The upper reciever is the A1 type with fixed carry handle and the A2 rear sight apperature, this gives me a ghost ring for close in and small apperature for long range (300yds max). The stock is a M4 6 position stock. The trigger is a standard AR15 trigger, and the barrel is a 1in9" twist. I like to keep it simple and sturdy.
I'm building an upper that is close to what you are probably looking for, to fit on a AR15A2 lower reciever I built for CMP competition. It has a Wilson 2 stage trigger with 4 1/2lb letoff. The upper I'm building is a A3 with a 20" heavy stainless 1in8"twist (can't remember if it's a Hart or Wilson), it will be free floated using a YHM Picatenny handguard. The front sight/gasblock will be a GG&G folding front sight. Have not decided on charging handle or scope yet, but I have a 4X ACOG till then.
The patrol rifle prints between 1" to 1 1/2"@100yds with 55 and 62gr, ball. I will expect the new upper to print sub MOA with 62 to 77gr BTs when it's done.

No, not even in the "up" position, if your inquiring about sight picture. That's the beauty of Aimpoints and Eotechs.

Beltfed:
That was a buddies 552?? Eotech with a Larue mount and my AR's FSB is an "F", so I get a lower 1/3 cowitness.

I also ran an Eotech 553 of my own on that rifle, sold it, and just run the irons now. My next optic will be the new Aimpoint Micro Dot.

Yep, spring just blows right past us here, usually lasting for about 6 - 8 hours.

The weather is starting to turn in the U.P., too. Now it's just wetter. This is a trail going from Whitefish Point west to the Two Hearted River, off Lake Superior. A neighbor works the trail groomers up here. We got almost a foot of the white stuff on April 1st.
