Haven't hunted all year but finally got to go on a quick trip last weekend. Planned to let my son fill the freezer and I may try a couple of hunts for a nice buck.  We got out and saw a few last Friday evening but he could not make them out in his scope good enough to shoot. It was 2 bucks and 4 does. The following mourning he shot a 3 point right at daylight and we saw a doe a couple of hours later. Saturday evening we had 2 doe's come in and he shot one of them. Both shots were 120-125 yrds. He shot the buck dead in the shoulder and it went 40 yrds(no passthrough but serious shoulder damage). He shot the doe through the lungs and it went about 30 yrds and died on the edge of the field(bullet passed through). This was his 5th and 6th deer. And it was number 15 and 16 with the .223 XCR Compact. Still sporting a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 and using 64 grain Win. Power points.I cleaned all of his deer last year and he wanted to do it this year so here is one picture of him and his granddad cleaning his first deer. He did a lot of the cleaning and sawing and washing and packed the cooler. One proud 9 year old and of course me too !!

Great stuff cbm, give your son my congrats.

p.s. would he want to join a hunt club up here?  We could use a good shooter.

That is the way it should be done. You only have them at that age once, don't miss your oppertunity.

Congrats! Keep up the good work!

He wanted to clean his own deer?  Boy has got the fever BAD.  Good shooting too.

Thats great, I love to see the little one's enjoying themselves and he looks about as happy as they come. Congratulations to both of you.
