I have around $250 to spend on a scope and I need some advice.  I primarily hunt deer and varmits in open country.  I will be mounting it on a 243 WSSM.  What are your recomendations?  I do want a Ballistic recticle.

How about a Burris Fullfield II with BPLX in 3-9x40 around 99% light transmission.

great optics and this sight has it for around 199.00

would this be enough magnification for you in a varmit hunt?

Both are good scopes, but I would probably go with the FFII Ballistic Plex unless I wanted the Firefly reticle.  The 99% light transmission is advertising talk and is not based in reality in the sense of what the average person would think.

I believe that the 3x9x40 would be enough althouth if there was another scope that fits my application without adding a lot of weight I would be interested.  Dose anyone have any personal experience with the Burris?

Paying attention to your last statement...."I do want a Ballistic reticle."

I would have to say Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 Ballistic Plex with free spotter for $197.95

I bought one for my Model 70 Super Shadow in .270WSM and liked it enough that I ordered another one for the Howa Lightning 1500 in 6.5x55 that I bought for my boys to shoot.  In my opinion, a very good scope for the money.  I was trying to decide between the Leupold VX-1, the Nikon Buckmark and the Weaver V9, all 3x9 variables, all in the $150 to $220 range.  The free spotting scope was what swung me over to the Burris.  Time will tell if it was the right decision, but so far so good.
