I have acquired a FA91.  .308cal

What would a good scope be for this? What would you guys recommend? The receiver has a Picatinny rail made into it. I was thinking a 10X SS with Burris tactical rings would work great but what are ya'll suggestion? It will be shot from prone after I add a swivel for a bipod and shoot free handed. I want to shoot targets out to 400+.

Thanks for looking
AC

Federal Arms

    FA91
HK91 clone. 7.62 NATO. US manufacture. Aluminum. Integrated Weaver rail.

OK now I know what you are talking about.  I would probably put an Aimpoint Comp M4 on it the thing is a gunfight gun designed to acquire multiple targets rapidly. If you have to put a traditonal optic on it  how about a Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-10x56. As you can see Im thinking lower powers would be more useful . You might consider the samplelist TAO1B which would be a fine choice for this rifle.
8855 Trijicon 3x24 Compact Acog TA394, Matte finish, amber crosshair reticle, BAC, like new condition demo model. $1,200.00 $699.95
6547 Trijicon 4x32 ACOG TA01B, Full Line Red Illumination, .308 bullet drop reticle, ready to mount in carry handle, 100% new in box, display model $990.00 $699.95

Just to add my 10 cents since I have one of these too. I've got a cheapo Bushnell Trophy on mine, and given the modest quality of the scope, the rifle shoots fine and the scope has held both together and its zero well for the 8 years its been on it -I ought to upgrade one day. Your choice, especially(budgetwise), and the above recomendations would compliment my rifle, sooo. Have fun

Thanks guys for the recamendations. I'm still trying to make my mind up but the trijicon 4x32 looks pretty good for it.

Boy that rail is really nice the one thing that really sucked about the H&K 91 was the expensive scope mount 20 yrs ago the mount was in the 400 to 500 range which was only a couple hundred less than the rifle at the time.  The H&K 91 that I had just trashed the brass leaving little lines down the brass about every milimeter and on top of that I had issues with the adjustment on the gas system so please give us some more feedback on this rifle.

As Of right now I have shot 100 rounds thru it. The brass looks good no scratches or strange dents. I did a few 5 shot groups at 100 and 200 yards. The 100 yards was right around an inch. That amazed me. The 200 yard groups opened up to just a tad of 3 inch. I was tickled that it shot so well. As for the gas system on this rifle I have not tried to tune it or anything else. I have had it apart one time to give it a once over. But the SS 10X and the FA 91 is a good pair. I know it is not the NORMAL tactical sigh most would have on it but it is a blast to shoot. I’m going to give it a paint job. I think the multicolor will look good on it. I will give a better field report and some range pictures shortly.

There is not a gas system on any G-3 rifle, they are recoil operated.  Recoil changes can be attributed to headspace changes which may require changing rollers or othe parts.
