This may be apples and oranges, but would like to get some educated folks opinions on this one.  I have a Stag Arms AR Varminter that I use on some ill tempered Pdogs and paper punching.

Doing some scope switching, to put on a newer rifle, and was focusing on two scopes, Vortex Viper 6-20x44 or the Falcon Menace 4.5x14.....

I dont generally tend to use that high of magification for semi autos, but the 279 seems a great buy and could be used elsewhere later.  Never had a Falcon and just noticed SWFA is carrying them.  Never had a front focal plane either, but sonds fun, and again could be used elsewhere later.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  As always, thanks very much.  If I would have just stayed in the ArmyI could have saved a lot of money on guns and ammo....

If it where me I'd go with the viper.  Of course I dont' know much about the Falcon.  But i do know how well the Vipers reputation is and how their warranty works in the event it fails later on in a lifetime.

I've just received - 3 hours ago - a new Viper 6.5~20x50 scope with a dot reticle. SWAFA lists them with the dot or V-Plex reticles at $280 but call first for availability. Vortex has just discontinued these reticles in the Viper line so a $549 suggested retail price scope is being offered for a darned good price. It still carries the lifetime, transferable warranty too. For specifics on specs, you can check the Vortex web site.

I own the Viper your are asking about. It is setting on a RRA 24" Varminter. At that price get it and grin, you won't find a better value anywhere.
