I bought a Swedish CG80 target rifle that someone drilled and tapped for Weaver bases. The bolt handle is bent but I still needed to go to Warne Extra high rings for clearence on the ocular. I currently have an older Leupold Vari X II 3x9x40 mounted on it and really want to go to a larger objective scope. The thing is that Outside diameter deminsion of the ocular is not readily available online for most scopes. I am thinking of Bushnell Elite line as well as , Millet,Mueller or any other good scope that meets this criteria. 44mm or greater objective, one inch tube(rather not buy another set of Ex high rings),Mil Dot reticle(not a deal breaker) and max of 1.625 or roughly 41mm diameter eyepiece. If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate hearing them. Thanks

I forgot one important thing...............trying to stay under four bills. Tomorrow I'm going to look at a Bushnell 3200 5-15x50 Elite. I hope the eyepiece is small enough. I've heard good things about this scope.

Of the good scopes out there, I think Vortex Viper has the smallest eyepiece.

If you are looking for a scope with a large objective lens, Vortex Viper 3.5-10x50 should work for you.  I think it is preiced right at $400 or so and it is comparable to Elite 4200 in terms of overall quality.

That one looks like it would fill the bill, thanks. I wonder what the overall OD at the eyepiece would be with the paddle that operates the zoom ? That is my only hold up on ordering it. I am worried that my bolt handle will hit it if I operate the bolt at full magnification.

Most scopes I have owned have been Leupold. All my life I have trusted Leupold.I have owned many of the older Vari X II scopes and have nothing but praise for them, I just wish I had one with a 50mm objective. I am seriously looking at a Vari X-I  but have no experience with them. Pros, I know the bolt handle will clear and it is a Leupold and NOT a Rifleman scope. I have looked at the RIfleman series and it almost wants to put me off Leupold altogether. Cons as I see it , mostly no parralax adjustment but that is not a biggie for me as this rifle will be just a toy and if I hunt with the 15 lb monster it will be from a shooting house on a field with known distances. Here is waht I am leaning towards.
