Is the eye relief too short for a lightweight .30-06?  I'm used to more like 3.5 to 4 in. of relief.  Anyone who has this scope, what do you think?

I don't think you will have a problem. I have that scope on a 270 and an 06 featherweight. Now for a 300 wby, I value my forehead too much. I took it between the eyes with my wby the other day with a Signature Select set on 8 power. At least it had a rubber ring on the eyepiece, still cut me though!Shocked

I had one on my Sako 30-06 and though it did not ever bite me, it did get other people   Shocked         that shot or borrowed the gun. So it is possible as with any other scope.

I put that scope on my new X Bolt .300 WSM. No issues so far.

The eye relief on the Elite 4200 3X9X40MM is 3.3". I have one mounted on a 308 and a 270WSM. No problem so far, even at 9X.

I forgot to mention I bought another 3-9 x40 4200 for my son. It went on a Tikka T3 Lite in 300 WSM which is really light weight and he loves it!

Shouldn't have a problem.  I have one on my 270.  Never been hit by it.  The only time I got bit by a scope was when I was holding the gun wrong to get a shot on a deer.  Sure was a tasty animal too.

Helo that's a good one, hehe...  Ok, would like more eye relief but sounds like it should be no problem.  I'm liking the price with the rainguard and the 4200 quality glass.

The glass is great, and so is the price.  I really like mine.  The rainguard is nice.  You should have no problems, even with a lightweight 30-06.  I really think most people get whacked because they are holding the gun wrong.

I'd call it's eye relief about the minimum that I'd use for a lightweight 30-06 but it should be fine. I think it's a good choice.

At one time, I had a 3x9 Elite 4200 mounted on my 375 Ruger Alaskan. I don`t think you`ll have a problem with any light weight 30-06.
