I have a Bushmaster M4 style rifle and was looking into an Eotech.  Does anyone have one and what do they think?

My use is basically playing at the rifle range and the countryside.  And of course home defense.  Thanks

They are great, I have one on a RRA M4 and love it.  Spend the extra cash to get the AA battery version, it'll save you headaches later.

Compared to an Aimpoint, it is faster on target and you see allot more of the area, but the reticle isn't as sharp and batteries don't last as long.

If you have the chance, i recommend looking through both an Aimpoint and the EOtech. I have the EOTech on an M4 and Aimpoint on SOCOM and, for what they do best, that is the best arrangement.  EOTech is great for close to mid-range: Aimpoint is best for mid-to longish-range.

Everything is a trade-off.  For range, countryside, and home defense, EOTech is best choice. Take home defense off that list, and Aimpoint is the best.  In my opinion, EOTech is the best CQB site on the market, for open-area shooting, Aimpoint has a slight advantage.

EOTech is great as long as you have batteries and for a guy who is clearing a house it is perfect. For the average shooter a traditional optic might be more useful without the battery issue. Just food for thought if you are not really doing CQB a little magnification might be nice some times.
