With the Aimpoint scopes cheekweld is not an issue the dot is on regardless of head position ----> Is it the same with the EOTech?

I have an Eotech and love it - I have never used anything faster. If you practice a little you can get on target without actually thinking about aiming (I know that sounds strange but its true) I like mine quite far from the eye. The only drawback is that at 200 plus yards the dot in circle is noticeably not as accurate as a scope - but its still FAST. I can shoot (sandbags) into 2 - 3" inches at 100 yards using the flip out 3X - the rifle does better but the dot does not magnify well.   I could not imagine anything better for close combat rapid response. Also RUGGED!

I've been using an Aimpoint Comp M4 but one of my boys got off with it so I'm deciding on which way to go.  I'm really leaning toward  this one with the side buttons and 4 dots:
557AR223 EOTech%20557%20Military%20Holosight%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20 EOTech 557 Military Holosight

Yes - The side button one is the best because they are more easily accessable especially if there is something mounted behind the EoTech- I believe it is also a little taller off the rail - which matches it up better with the 3X magnifier if you decide to get that also (works great but a lot of $$ for only somewhat more performance) I have the one with the buttons on the back - But side would be better as it is more flexible. The military 123 battery or AA is best. My son has the N-Cell powered one and battery life isn't all that good.

Now all you need is night vision or thermal vision and you have the perfect weapon sight.

Get one - You'll love it!

The short EO Tech sights do not work very well at all with the 3x magnifier.  Check this out:

Eotech is very fast on target, very good scope for close-range work, OK for medium-range work.

Yes, it's the 553 with the 65 MOA circle and 1 MOA dot.

I know this is the never ending debate, but I can't help but to chime in.

I like the EOTech from an appearance and field of view standpoint, but I decided on Aimpoint on rifles I intend for more serious work. My reasons were battery life and noticing that the bright circle on the EOs tended to obscure dark targets in very low light. Your milage may vary.
