Cant find the reticle pattern yet but found this:

The U.S. Marine Corps recently selected EOTech's HOLOgraphic Weapon sight (HWS) in response to an urgent requirement for a close quarter battle optic for use on the Marine Corp's M4 Carbine. The contract award made by the Marine Corps Systems Command (Quantico, VA), is a one-time purchase of 1,930 HWS sights for Marine Corp units deploying into active war zones in the next few months.

Thanks Ufriend.

Any pics of the optic or the .223 Ballistic reticle available?

I checked Eotech's website, but no joy there.

MODEL 557 EOTech

The new 557.AR223 has been developed to optimize the functionality of the HWS. The buttons have been moved from the back to the left side for instant access, allowing a magnifier, night vision, or a back up iron sight to fit closely to the HWS body. This new button position allows the user to operate the HWS function switches easier than ever before. Additionally, a portion of the front base has been raised to allow the sight to fit over standard hand guards found on many M-4 or M-16 style weapons. The 557.AR223 is configured with a new ballistic matching reticle image for the M4 carbine. The battle tested circle/dot reticle will be offered along with a series of 1 MOA aiming dots that are vertically aligned and calibrated specifically for the ballistic drop of .223 caliber ammunition. The reticle provides 4 aiming dots for target distances of 0-300m, 400m, 500m, and 600m

Key features:

• Vastly improved accuracy and target identification at longer distances

• Ballistic matched reticle image for .223 ammunition (M4) out to 600m

• Modified base designed to fit over standard hand guards.

• Gen I-IV night vision compatibility – with or without 4X scope

• Meets stringent military specifications

• Submersible to 33 ft water depth

Thanks, Chris!!

Control switches on the side.

Now the BUIS won't be in the way.

They are "supposed" to be shipping before this spring, but you know how that goes.

They moved the switches to the side for the new MPO (Multi Purpose Optic), working better with back up iron sights is just the bonus plan.

That looks pretty cool.  Every self-respecting mall ninja will certainly want one.  It would be a perfect fit for one of my projects, but I am not sure I can swing the cost: one grand is pushing it for me.

I wonder how this is going to play out between Eotech and Aimpoint.  From the technology standpoint, my money is on EoTech, but these things are notoriously difficult to predict.  Besides, it is probably fair to assume that the products are sufficiently different in execution (if not in design purpose) to be able to carve up the market and coexist.

Will that large screw on the left side get in the way of the GGG quick detach base?  Do you know what that screw is - looks like a quick attach /detach system by itself.

I just installed my new Close Quarters optic.  Irons with XS Sight Systems tritium white stripe front sight post.

I can shoot at least as well with irons as with EOTech.

Did I mention that my Burris 2-7 FFII scope has ballistic plex reticle that works great as well.  This will now be mounted on my new (just ordered) RRA 20 in bbl 1:8 twist self-declared SPR.

I use irons on my RRA carbine.  I sold my EOTech.

EOTech just moved their operation and are a little behind.  The only thing they tell us is the new stuff will be shipping this spring.

I jumped in line to get one of the EOTechs with .223 reticle. My Aimpoint Comp M4 came in and I am very happy with it. The big difference I see between the two scopes is that the Aimpoint has significantly longer battery life and the EOTech I expect to have a wider field of view but rather short battery life so the decision may have to be based on your ability to acquire AA bateries if the optic is to be deployed for military use. State side the battery issue is not likely to be a problem.

Dilligaf  ---  has George sent you my folding AI stock to be painted?  He told me he was going to start working on my rifle ( 300 WM) I had him add a Vortex flash suppressor, should be a nice touch. I'm still thinking I should have a better scope than the Leu Mk4 10x M3 that I sent him but sometimes you got what you got. Should be interesting to see how close the cam is at distance.
