Anybody have exp with these? I have an eotech and am interested in the SS 1-6. BUT, if the magnifier is not a total POS, maybe I'll go that route. Seems like the total weight (eo+ magnifier= approx ss 1/6) is about the same. Will be going on a DDV1 and used for hog and target to 2-300 yds. Thoughts? Honesty is ALWAYS appreciated;) I'm assuming I could keep flip up buis's on this as well?

Remember that a magnifier is also going to magnify the reticle as well as the target. At 3x that will turn a 2MOA dot into a 6 MOA dot, and that will cover a bunch of pig at 300 yards. IMHO a scope will be better because it will be more precise for the longer shots

Oh yeah, I forgot about that whole math situation.:)
Thanks for the reminder! (though those are some bigass hogs in Texas!, but yeah, that's making a 5.56 shot in the grape WAY harder than it needs to be.) thanks Bb

Looks like the dot is < 1 Moa. So less than 3" at a hundy. The plot thickens...

But will cover 9" @ 300! Not to mention only having half the mag of the 1-6. Plus the fact that you are hunting, where a bad hit leaves an animal in pain... The 1-6 is the better optic for what you are describing.

Adding a magnifier is like patching software... it means there was either a deficiency in your requirements or a defect.  If you really want magnification, the SS is the way to go.  It is a superior riflescope at a value price.

I have waffled several times on what to put on my 6.5 Grendel.  I sat down yesterday and went through my list of actual requirements vs "nice to haves'.  The SS1-6 completes the requirements and most of the nice to haves at much less cost than anything else I had under consideration.  VALUE... that's what it is all about.  I'm back "ON" with the SS1-6 and won't change again...

I'm an idiot.:) was up too late trying to do math. I meant < 3 " at 300. But I def see your point.
And I don't think of it as a deficiency, just not what it was designed for:) I'm prob trying to make it too versatile.

Side note.. What are the differences in the bobro mounts as far as "extended, standard, slightly fwd.." and whatnot?
How do you know which one to order? Thanks!

I had the slightly forward unit with a SS 1-4x and it worked perfect.

When the 1-6 first came out, I believe the slighly forward mount was included with the group buy. You might check this one too, it is a re-labeled Bobro.
