I just finished sighting in two new Eotech 512's and noticed something I'd heard about before: Apparent imprecision in the windage & elevation adjustments. Although quoted as .5moa adjustments I discovered they were sometimes a good deal greater or less than that when sighting in at 50yds. Ex: Needing to adjust elevation by 2 inches that should be 8 clicks of adjustment (2/[.5 x 50/100] = 8) only to discover I'd overshot by 1 inch (ie: 3 inches of adjustment resulted instead of 2 inches) or hadn't adjusted far enough. Once sighted in there's no problem or change in POI but am puzzled why this is. Any ideas?...

I've heard good things about them. I guess you have to keep in mind that they were not designed to be super precision target scopes that need to track perfectly.  Just one of those things...

Don't have this problem with mine, it's at least as accurate on the clicks that is ,as any dot scope I've got or had. Of course with the subtension being so large it can cause problems. have you eliminated the group size?? sometimes heavier bullets in 22's have not stabilized at 50 yds. (sometimes not even at 100 yds).

They both sighted in just fine and hold POI like every other Eotech I've owned, it's just the obvious "randomness" of adjustment size that caught my attention during the sight-in process that prompted me to ask. I was using the SS197 SR w/40gr V-Max bullet in my PS90's.

your results would indicate the clicks are not calibrated correctly, never found that much movement in mine after testing on 3 different weapon types and calibration of the circle to a standard IPSC target. dialed in clicks moved poi the amount expected and measured.

what is your 10 shot group size with this combination at 100yds?

Haven't shot at 100 yet, just 50 which is my std sight-in range for the PS90. 3-shot groups running about 1" at that range. Clicks were all postive and counted correctly (ie: 8 clicks for 2" adjustment at 50).

with the 8 clicks dialed -- using your method what is the elevation movement at 100 yds? the imaging grid (pixelation) on your eos are not registering the dial in.

Eotech states .5moa adjustments so 8 clicks should equal 4" @100yds. As I posted earlier I haven't had the opportunity to shoot @100 yet, last weekend was just for sighting-in.

In my (somewhat limited) experience, EoTech's adjustments are not particularly well calibrated, so sighting in can be a little bit of a chore.  However, once sighted in, the POI does not move.
