Was wondering what the differences between the Militart and the Tactical versions of the EOTech were.. is it just the NVG compatibility or is there more to it?

Thanks

Jason

The Military version IS NV compatable, the Tactical version is NOT NV compatable.

Certain models of each have AA batteries, while the others take "N" type batteries.

If the EOTech model ends in the number "1" then it uses type N batteries. If it ends in the number "2" it uses AA batteries. The AA battery models (512/552) have the longest battery life.

I just got the 553 model and it's terrific!! ("N" batteries)

I shot it at the range today and target aquisition is WICKED fast!!

I never thought I would like "The Circle Of Death" as much as my beloved Aimpoint, but I'm liking the "Eothingy" better all the time.

Wait did I hear that right.  Say you like what better than an Aimpoint.  I thought I would never here the day there Cheap.

How goes it by the way?  I still hang around just don't login unless I want to post.  I'll be getting an EoTech for a new Kel-Tec I got (yes I can't do the AR in Kalifornia).

The EoTech is the way to go out of the red dots by the way.

Hello Mithran!!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, my friend!!

The Eotech is really nice. The "Circle Of Death" is fast for target acquisition.

My buddy sent me one, a 552 "F" version, to play with for a month and I liked it.

I wish you'd come by a post more often.

I guess I'll have to start Eotech and ACOG threads to get you come out of hiding!!

Still working at "that place"??

Yep still work at Pinnacle.  Love it too.  Hey did your friend ever order a vest?

4th if you have access to NVG gear than get one with the compatability.  If you don't then save you money.  Truly I didn't like having NVG's mounted behind my EoTech.  What then goes on your face if your PVS-14's are on your weapon?  I don't like the idea of having to shoulder a rifle just to look through your NVG's.  Rather have them on my head and use an IR laser/ illuminator.  I can rotate my head faster than a shouldered rifle to scan for threats.  One more thing when your batteries go tits up it's one more hunk of junk that's gonna get in the way of you back up irons.  I'm a firm believer in non flip up back up irons so I wouldn't be able to mount a PVS-14 behind my EoTech anyway.

I don't think he got the order in, Mithran.

He got in a big wad trying to hurry around and get ready to go and then they dropped the whole deal. Pulled the rug out from underneath him.....

Thanks for your reply on the NV gear.

You mentioned preferring only fixed style BUIS.

Could you elaborate on that a little more, Brother?

Flip ups are more likely to bust, more moving parts, more to go wrong.

Stay zeroed better.  Once you move your sights there is always a better chance for them to be off zero.  Sure most quick attatch/release stuff is pretty good about holding zero, but hey Murphy is Murphy for a reason.  I hated being issued a new/ newer weapon and then told that "well, we'll get you zeored when we can," even stateside.  F*ck that.  If you can't accurately engage than all you are is a lead slinger,  hard, vital hits are what matter.  Machinge guns are for suppression, not rifles.

I can use both. EoTech zeroed at 300 yards.  Irons zeroed and set at 500.  Don't get me wrong using Kentcuky windage is great and all, but if you have the tools to accurately nail that ass from 5 yards out to 500 wouldn't you use them?  One reason I love the ACOG so much, and that'll get you out to 800 yards.  Although your kinda stuck with flip ups with the ACOG, but hey you can't have your cake and eat it all too, sometimes...........

Seen some of the best shots in the world go unqualified shooting with pansy little flip ups.  I'll stick with fixed BUIS thats part of the weapon or attatched to a rail and torqued and lock tighted down.
