I have one in my 6.8 middie.  Can't comment on how much difference it makes, as it's had it from the beginning (my AR is a complete scratch build of parts from many different mfg's) and haven't tried it with a conventional buffer for comparison.  I got it for the same reason you mention:  to reduce muzzle rise to hopefully enable faster follow-up shots on feral hogs.  For the most part, I can see my shot impact throught the scope, but I have been using low to moderate scope magnification so far, and I don't know whether I could still see the same with a conventional buffer.

One thing's for certain -- it certainly hasn't hurt anything and hasn't hampered reliability any.

Not that exact model, but I've played around with a different hydraulic buffer. Couldn't really get it to work, even with my adjustable gas system. Though when it did work, it seemed to help a bit.
I use lightened buffers and BCGs in my match rifles instead, though a bit more expensive, it works.
