Credit Cards are starting to get hit in Arizona. Mine got hit, meaning me and my son got rifle bull Elk tags! Not sure on which area yet, but all 5 areas I put in for, are great hunting.
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Very cool!!!  In Montana you pay up front and if you don't get drawn, you get a refund.

Oh wow, Ted has told me about Arizona Bulls and how they are arguably the largest trophy animals you could hunt. I'm very happy for your Bill.

We got drawn in unit 10, which is north and west of the town of Williams az. Pretty good country to hunt for trophy class bulls!
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Awesome!
I've hunted elk twice now, it is a near religious experience to hear them bugle.
Good luck.

Yes, indeed! The coolest sound in all of nature, IMHO!

The thing about elk hunting is even if you don't see a single wapiti, it's worth it just to be in elk country!

Hearing a gobbler respond to a call is very near as awesome.  And having a white tail come crashing through the brush when he hears you rattling is also quite satisfying.

I want a nice bull elk, but opportunities are few in Texas for such hunts.  And I am out of wall space to display such a magnificent beast.

Tag soup is now being served at my house. Unit 10 is a hunt that one must do lots of homework on, or at least gain access to the copious amount of private land. There were a lot of hunters, and the elk were almost exclusively nocturnal, making it really difficult to find them. Plus they were bedded in really thick cedars that were pretty hard to see through with binoculars. We saw a total of two bulls, one was so after shooting light, and the other would have been a 200 yard shot on a running animal. Was rather proud of my son for having the discipline on passing that shot up.
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?
