Was thinking about the 6500 in the 2.5x16 with the target knobs.  I have a 4200 6-24 mil dot, how would the 6500 compare?  I have read it is the same glass, just increased range.  Anyone have any input on that?  Seems it would be a scope that could go on any rifle I have, so that makes it even more attractive.

Thanks in advance

Go Hawkeyes!

I've been reading that the 4.5-30x50 has been a disappointment at higher magnifications.  I don't know if the 2.5-16x42 has the same problem.

I think Bushnell pushed something on to the market before they had the bugs worked out.  The Elite 4200 series is a Best Buy in anyone's book (so is the 3200 for that matter), so I guess they thought a higher magnification and a higher zoom ratio would be even better.  I believe they were wrong.

Some good input, thanks.  Scaring me away from it a bit, along with some of the other posts here on Bushnell service that I read.  Well, guess its back to the drawing board...

Well for what its worth just ordered a Vortex.  Never had one before, hear great things about service, and the 6.5-20x50 for 279 was just too good to pass up for glass that is supposedly on the 4200 level....

Kind of what to get the 2-7 BDC as well....next payday I guess.....

I have never been a big Bushnell fan. That being said the 4200 is an exceptional scope from what i could see in a brief examination. Im spoiled with good eye relief though. But for the price of the 6500?? PLease

I reviewed the 2.5-16x42 model a little while back and liked it very much:

While, I agree the the 4.5-30x50 model is best used under 20x, I think the 2.5-16x42 is a very well sorted out design that seems to be doing well in the market.

Thanks by the way for the link to your review, might have to be a scope for another day.  Couldnt pass up the viper at the current price right now, will switch a few around for a while.
