Ok...

The debate in my mind started with the Conquest vs. the Big Sky...I inquired about a couple of the other top sellers, including the Elite 4200.

I already have one and was looking to "Diversify my portfolio" by going Sightron.

Here is the thing.

4200s are GREAT scopes for the coin.  I'm very happy with the one on my .270.  Even with a $75 mail in rebate, the Big Sky I am looking at is a $300 optic.

I can get the equivalent 4200 on sale for under $200 right now.

I am having a VERY hard time justifying the extra $100 for the Big Sky...what do you guys think?

Over analyzing?

I have both.  They seem pretty close to my eyes.  I would save the money and get the 4200.

Once you pull the trigger, you can't take it back.

Another 4200 on its way.

I can't believe the deals that are going on with them.  Kinda makes a man want to buy 3-4.

Hey, might be a dumb question...the site that I bought the scope from doesn't list the tube size.

Does the standard 3-9x40mm 4200 Elite come with the 30mm AND the 1" option?

I have only had hands on experience with 1" tubes with this scope.

Thanks

Doesn't SWFA have a %110 low price guarantee? You would have saved even more buying here at SWFA.

SWFA doesn't have 3-9x40mm Bushnell Elite 4200s available anymore.  They only have two of last year's 4200s available (2.5-10x50mm w/#4 and w/Multi-X) and the new "Elite Series" which replaced the 4200/3200 line.

I found a good deal on my last 3-9x40mm by searching around on the internet and took the deal to SWFA and they honored the 110% low price guarantee.  Really classy company!  Case in point, I have two BRAND NEW 4200 Elites and have paid around $445 for both, including shipping, etc.

Couldn't ask for more, really.

Oh, don't get me wrong.  They are great scopes!

I was just at my local gun shop and had the chance to play around with a Big Sky for a few minutes.

Optically, they are a little clearer and a little brighter, I'll agree with you there.

But to me, they aren't justifiably worth $175+/- more (or even the $100 more with mail in rebate) in my opinion.

To my eyes, they are very similar.  Now, if Sightron starts rockin' a $200 deal on their Big Sky, I'll be sold! Wink
