I did a post a few weeks ago about the new 4200 1.25-4 and how at night or in very low light the lit reticle was too bright and effectively due to the flair took up too much target to be able to place a precise enough (for me) shot on game.

it has a 3v battery and I decided to try a 1.5:

MUCH better
I was watching deer in the field behind our house until well past 30min after sunset
with the 1.5v and the 4200 1.25-4 I would have felt very comfortable taking shots at 100 yards or so when I could barely even see the deer with my naked eye (about 1/2 a moon)

with the Acog TA33 I could have shot the deer but not as with much confidence on taking the exact shot I wanted with the 4200 1.25-4
