After seeing this sight and realizing it's capabilities I’m definitely installing one on my AR for the next three gun competition. It combines the best of both worlds. The ability to go to 1x for close quarters. Then combining the BDC reticle with the available 4x magnification you have a very effective long range sight. With their short time on the market they have taken off quickly becoming one of our most popular sights. Don’t get left behind and keep us in mind as we are an Authorized Armament technology dealer.

The ELCAN SpecterDR Dual Role Optical Sight represents a revolution in optical sight design. The world’s first truly dual field of view combat optical sight, the SpecterDR switches instantly from a 4x magnified sight to a 1x CQB sight with the throw of a lever. Unlike zoom sights, the SpecterDR offers an optimized optical path and identical eye relief in both 4x and 1x modes. Depending upon the situation, the user may adjust the sight to illuminate the entire crosshair or just a 1.5 MoA dot in the center. In 1x mode, the SpecterDR has by far the largest field of view in the industry. In 4x mode the SpecterDR offers a generous field of view, long eye relief, and ELCAN’s legendary crystal clear image. The SpecterDR offers the best single solution for both CQB and Long Range engagements and is designed to withstand the rigors of modern professional use.

- Switches instantly from close combat 1x to telescopic 4x
- Eye relief cheekweld and bore sighting remain constant
- Large, low light exit pupil remains constant
- High efficiency coatings for extended low light performance
- Integrated lever-lock mount for optimum weigh reduction
- Rugged, Reliable Performance
- Shock Protected Precision Optics
- Integrated back-up iron sights are bore sighted to scope

The SpecterDR optical sight is a fast switching dual 1.0x and 4.0x fixed optical power telescopic weapon sight which mounts on a MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail. The optical sight consists of a single main housing that includes the dual field of view optics and the integral mount assembly. This design places all of the optics in a sealed, hardened optical housing protected from the environment. All mechanical adjustments of the sight are controlled be the elevation and azimuth zeroing mechanisms in the mount assemble.

The optical housing has a 32mm objective lens and an 8mm diameter exit pupil, which provides excellent vision in low light levels. It also provides for rapid target acquisition and identification at short, intermediate and long ranges. The sight incorporates LED’s for red dot and reticle illumination under close combat or low light conditions. The ballistically compensated reticle consists of a cross hair or with horizontal stadia lines for shooting at various ranges. The optical sight has no internal surfaces that will reflect laser interrogation. The telescope has a heavy rain/emergency aiming features on top of the optical housing.

The mount has two levers which fasten the sight to the picatinny rail and allow the sight to be removed and reattached without the need to re-zero the sight. The mount is adjustable for zero in both elevation and azimuth (windage).

Back up iron sights

Integral Back-up iron sights are located on the top of the SpecterDr. These sights can be removed and replaced should they ever become damaged or if a different sight design is desired. These sights consist of a 5mm diameter peep rear sight and a 2.5mm wide post front sight. The sights are intended for use in a heavy rain and emergency defense situations. The back up iron sight axis is parallel to the sight optical axis and does not require separate zeroing.

Battery cap and lanyard

The conical battery cap sits on top of the illumination rotary switch. It can be removed by hand by unscrewing it counter clockwise. A lanyard is attached at the top of the battery cap to prevent it’s loss when changing the battery. The batter cap should only be tightened by hand until snug so that it can later be removed by hand.

Mount locking lever(s)

The locking lever(s) are used to secure the sight to the weapons picatinny rail. SpecterDR uses 2 ARMS type low profile locking levers that point toward each other when locked. The mount base also provides for additional tie/wire wrap points so that the ARMS levers can be locked in place.

Elevation zeroing dialing

The zero dial is located at the lower rear of the mount. The dial allows for elevation zeroing (when the zeroing lock is up) and is fixed in place otherwise (when the zeroing is down)

Elevation zeroing lock

The elevation zeroing lock (silver tab) is located just above the elevation zeroing dial. It is only used during elevation zeroing. Move the lock UP to permit ˝ MOA per click elevation zeroing. Move the lock DOWN to lock the elevation zero. Important: to prevent damage be sure that the lock is fully disengaged before attempting to turn the elevation zeroing dial.

Azimuth reference

The front fork on the sight housing has space gaps between the forks and the mount base plate. When each of the two gaps shows equal spacing, the sight is roughly at azimuth center.

Azimuth (windage) Adjustment screw

The azimuth adjustment screw is located at the front left side of the mount. It is rotated to left or right to change the Mean Point of Impact (MPI) of the bullets. A coin or rim of a bullet can be used to turn the adjustment screw. Rotate the screw clockwise to move the point of impact to the left. Rotate the screw counter clockwise to move the point of impact to the right. Each “click” moves the point of impact ˝ Minute of Angle (MOA) (approximately ˝” at 100yards)

The Specter is shown as out of stock and discontinued.  Is it really discontinued or just out of stock?

ELCAN over sold what they had scheduled to produce and will not be shipping any more for some time.  Once they do start shipping again we can not be certain if the price and description will be the same, so we have discontinued the product as to not let back orders accrue until we have more information from the manufacturer.
