How well does the Elcan SpecterDR work in the rain?  I am thinking of using one on a 30-06 in the wet Pacific Northwest...

It works pretty well in the rain. The large objective makes it fairly forgiving of obstructions on the lens. Also, the ability to switch powers quickly is nice when you need to 'focus past' a lot of water on the lens. The main thing I would like to see improved about that scope is the the mount, but as you planning on using it for hunting rather than military application I doubt you will ever have any issue. Just my two cents...
