I have a pair of Bushnell 7x26 Custom Compacts that at the time were pretty darn good. One of the roof prisms came loose and I sent it in to Bushnell and didn't want to pay the extra $50 back then for an additional "cleaning" procedure. Later I let a renowned camera store clean them for me - I had to send it back to them an additional two times because they really screwed them up. They don't have the same "zip" like they used to and I'm sure they were not - nitrogen filled, purged, reassmebled in a nitrgen chamber, whatever - like when they were originally manufactured.
I'm sure they will fog up inside under the right conditions but would they be clearer if the regular air was purged and they contained nitrogen only inside?  That $50 years ago doesn't seem so bad now.

I have the same binocular.  As far as I know the design was never nitrogen purged/filled and was never advertised as waterproof.  It looks like you have paid the price for repair.  Now since you still have a binocular that sounds like it is screwed up from poor service, when you finally have to send it to Bushnell to get it fixed you will find that since it has been worked on by unauthorized repair facilities, you'll pay some more.

I don't think nitrogen will improve clarity. But it will prevent fogging up internally. It is very common and inexpensive to have some high quality pairs that are waterproof.
