Well ... I am prettymuch set on a zeiss conquest 3-10x40 or bushnell 4200 2.5-10x40 . It will go on my Rem 700 in .30-06.

Now I am wondering .. Does it matter which brand/kind base and rings I get?

Should I get a certain brand? I hear leupold rings are good?

Is a 1 one 2 piece base better? Does it matter?

I want to have a robust setup but nothing crazy (like $150 for a base) .. money is an issue ... so reasonable material is required.

Thanks !

Matt

Ooops .. I guess it should bette rbe in rings and bases ... Maybe the mod can move it ...

Bases and rings make a huge difference.  A $1,000 scope will do you little good if it is moving all over the place in a $5.00 set of rings.  Leupold (and others) make good, reasonably priced rings and bases.  I prefer one piece bases, but two piece models work just fine.

I always thought two-piece bases just looked better.  I've never had any trouble with Leupold, Burris, or Talley

Check out www.tacticalprecision.com for bases and rings.Great price, awesome quality. They build them for the military Rem. sniper rifles.Hunting setups too.

Priced about the same as leupold, but more robust.
