Someone give me the low down on the Docter line of scopes.I am looking more toward the 30mm than the 1".How or where does this scope compare with the other high end euro's? How is it compared to a Leupold? Thanks for the help.I just need to many scopes.

Also are these scopes wire reticles or etched?

All the Docters that you find in this country are going to be wire reticles.  I understand that the newer models are being upgraded with etched glass amongst other things.  I have been impressed with the 30mm models that I have seen.  I would take one over a Leupold.  You can get some good deals on these if you can stilll find them.  They are currently no longer being imported and there is no one available for warranty work.

Not sure where you got your information, but it's not entirely accurate.  Docter Optics are still being imported and are distributed by PMC Ammo/BC Outdoors in Nevada as of last week.  On the warranty side I can't say, but there' always the option of shipping it back to Europe for repair if BC Outdoors doesn't have an option.

As for their quality, Docter has been huge in the microscope industry for a good number of years, and their lenses are ground on original Jena Zeiss machines.  Clarity and resolution are up there with the best of them, and the mechanicals seem to be top notch as well.

We should be getting one of their 8-25x50mm Varmint scopes in later this year as part of our Mid-Price Varmint Scope Face-off, where we will be putting it up against similar scopes in the $500-1000 price range (Leupold VX-III, Sightron SIII, Burris Black Diamond, IOR 30mm Hunting, Zeiss Conquest, etc.).

SavageShooters, you had better check your info again.  B.C outdoors dropped every line but PMC ammo, which is who they really are.  B.C sold off their entire inventory months ago to competitor.  Feel free to contact B.C. or Docter.  If you are waiting for a scope, you will be waiting a very long time.
