I'm looking at using a red dot sight on one of my hunting rifles instead of a scope and want to check out the posibilities. It's a short carbine and will be used at closer ranges, say <200 yds, in heavier cover, low light and perhaps on moving targets. I've noticed from pictures the Docter's are quite small and will fit a standard Weaver base so they would seem suitable for this application. Does anyone here have any experience with them?  Docter makes some good binos but overall are not well known and information on their products is scarce it seems.
I realize that there are many red dots out there but size really caught my eye, it's not much bigger then open sights.

Docter is well established in the EU since it is in business for decades. They used to be named Carl Zeiss Jena before the unification of east and west Germany. Their reputation is much bigger than their new name.

Their Dot Sight was one of the first on the market and is really good. On the other hand the dot it self is 3.5 MOA big and this means that shoots on 200 yards are hard to make. If you plan to shoot so far look at 1-4x, 1-6x, 1-8x and 1-10x scopes. But if you plan to hunt running animals on less than 100 yards then the dot sight is perfect.
