I think he is headed to his Insurance company (Farm Bureau) to ease there mind on the bill to fix his grocery cart. How fast dose the cart need to be rolling to kill a deer anyways?

Someone ran over a doe that died right in my driveway a couple of days ago.  HEARTBREAKING.  I am getting very sentimental lately and it really broke my heart.  She did not deserve to die that way, nothing does.  I have NEVER killed an animal by running over it and have never run off the road to avoid it.  Alertness is PRIME (pun somewhat intended).  I did once have a young buck jump up on the hood of my car (trying to commit suicide, I think) but he was uninjured... beat up my car though.  I believe being observant could eliminate 95% of roadkill.  I detest it.  WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how many encounters you've had over all, but most folk see and watch the first one or two cross. It's the one trying to catch up that usually gets nailed.

I live in a pretty "high deer crossing" area.  Never damaged one yet and to say that I drive aggressively would probably make my wife laugh at the understatement.  I probably encounter 3 deer crossing in front of me every week.  In deer season, when coming home from work at night, I may encounter half a dozen or more from the main highway to my driveway (about 5 miles, woods both sides of the road).  Sometimes I don't see any, but generally at least one.  Avoided a possum and a raccoon last night, both with suicidal tendencies.

Here in Iowa you call the sheriff and they will bring you a "DNR Transportation Tag" for roadkill.   I had to put down a doe that got her hind foot caught in a 6ft chain link fence and called for the free tag.
