Bought my scope 13 months ago (of course) and after finally finishing my rifle I take it out only to find black specks all over (>30) the reticle lens.  Kinda like my scope has dandruff!

Has anybody else had this kind of issue?

A call to SWFA revealed that a return was out of the question and an exchange after getting the scope repaired will only net me $225.  That's a pretty steep depreciation for a new scope.  I'd love to trade it in for a VX-III 6.5-20 for my silhouette rifle, but that leaves too big of a gap to span.

Anybody in the market for a never fired SS, no ring marks, with steel, high Mark 4 rings?  Sad

I'm sorry your disappointed. I love my 10x Super Sniper.

Am I reading this right?? Whatever
You had the scope for 13 months BEFORE you realized there was some debris on the inside of the scope?? You received the scope and never even looked through it?
Or am I all wrong here?

Debris on the inside of a scope is fairly common, even with the expensive ones. It happens.
I personally had to send a $1700 dollar USO back to California for the same reason.

I have seen this with several scopes through the years. Price range not with standing. I'm not sure what causes this either. I suspect that there are always going to be some that get through the process with out being treated properly before the painting or anodizing process is done.

Yeah, that's right.  Of course I looked through it when I received the scope, just out the window into my greenbelt, which is a nice, dark background.  I finished my rifle and pointed the thing at a very bright and light colored target which made the foreign matter painfully obvious.

The scope has been in the safe waiting for the rifle to be completed.  Well, you know how that goes.  Interest drift put a silhouette rifle and a varmint rifle ahead of the AR.  Oh, and getting bitten pretty hard by the IDPA bug didn't help anything.  And then there was the Dillon....

For all I know, it looked like a million bucks when I first looked through it and when it came out of the safe yesterday to go to the range, it looked like crap.

I won't mind parting with the thing when I get it serviced to hopefully better than new condition because it was a little top heavy for the AR.  I think an ACOG is in it's future.

So yeah, you read right.  Mainly I just wanted to vent a little.  Not a whole lot an internet forum can do to help the situation but mend a little mental frustration.

I guess I also expected a little kinder reaction from SWFA other than "sorry dude, it's a used scope".  True, but it still stings.

It is only common with glass eteched reticle scopes because it creates an impassible point for debris to collect and it is at a focal point.  Bushnell will be able to take it apart, clean it, repurge it and send it back to you....no problem.

I can not see anyone here telling you, "sorry dude, it's a used scope".   Are you certain that they did not inform our return policy and direct you to Bushnell to warranty the scope?
