I recently sold a Leupold vary XII on e-bay and I listed it as a VXII to keep the title short to allow for more detail with the allowed space. After selling the scope the buyer e-mailed me and informed me that the item was not what the add decribed. What is the accual difference between the two. I was under the impression that they were basicly the same scope. Should I refund him for it when he ships it back. Or should I stand my ground. The thing that bothers me is that the next highest bidder would likely be happy with the scope for 1-5 dollars less.

HEY,Gary,
The big difference is that your old Vari-X II is the newer VXI not VXII. One of the differences is that your scope and the VXI have friction type adjustments where as the VXII is click type.
So I guess you owe him a refund. No big deal as it wasn't intentional. Live and learn. MAYBE the buyer would keep it for a bit less money?

It is important to accurately describe the merchandise you are selling. So even though the error was not intentional I suggest that you tell him he can have a refund if he returns it in the same condition you sent it. Then next time use the correct description.

Just plead ignorance and it will be okay. It's been working for me for sixty years.

If I was the guy that bought it, I'd be pretty darned sure that you were trying to rip me off. Refund? Refund and apology is more like it.
According to the Leupold web site, the Vari-X II was equal to the new Rifleman. Go compare prices on Rifleman models to the VXII. Can't you find a bigger font? |

Though the error may be unintentional, a refund and apology would be in order. The difference between the two scopes is pronounced.
