So my brother (whom lives in Austin but is a fevered Sooner fan) tells me that the demise of the Big 12 all started with the Texas Longhorn network that got exclusive TV rights for Texas collegiate sports and whom does not share their revenues. Anybody care to elaborate?

That's one of the reasons why the newly formed pac-12 put the "kabosh" on the recent request to add four more teams (Texas being one of them) expanding it be the pac-16.
