Hey Guys/Gals,
New to the forum and AR platform. Looking to mount a 1-4x24 mil dot scope on an Armalite 10A4 with a quick detach mount. Thinking Bobro 30mm, but which of the configurations should I consider. Any help would be much appreciated-Thank You

and btw great stuff here!

The answer depends largely on how you shoulder the rifle and the tube length of the chosen optic. If you are a "nose to charging handle" shooter, you need a mount that pushed the scope out over the front of the rail, so a cantilever mount fits. If you prefer to sit back off the charging handle, you don't need as much offset.  And if the optic has a long eye relief, that alters things too.

The Bobros are quite good, as are the American Defense mounts. I own both and prefer the AD due to its standard fasteners, very secure lockup, and lighter weight.

Let us know what scope you are leaning toward, and that will make choosing a mount much simpler.  And will you be going with the standard stock on your Armalite it swapping it to an aftermarket?

Thanks Rancid,
deciding between the SS HD 1-4 and the Viper PST 1-4, keeping the standard stock on this one. I'm a sit back off the charging handle shooter. I'm definitely on board with the AD mounts, they've got more flavors than Baskin Robbins - thanks again.

The SS is better than the PST in every single way.  The glass quality diff is huge.  I wouldn't even consider the PST if I had the budget for the SS.

ok, I've narrowed it down to the AD Recon and the BOBRO A201300 mounts. Whew, my eyes burn and my neck hurts. Thanks Rancid for putting my quest on the right track. Suppertool73 the budget actually started out with the Vortex Razor. Any thoughts on the 2 mounts will be welcome-thanks again.

I have a couple bobros. They are good mounts. However I just had a bolt randomly break on one of them. Bobro has a now questions asked warranty though amd asked me to send it right in for repair

Of the two, I like the AD Recon as well if you need to have a quick release mount.  With the exception of my one AR that switches between a Aimponit and a SS 1-6x in a AD Recon, the rest have AADmount's precision AR mount.

Just have a lot more confidence in the AADmount.

Thanks for all the knowledge guys, I've decided the scope will be the SS HD 1-4X24D, Supertool73 when you're right you are right - thanks. but on to the mount which will be the AD. I still want to wear my MI BUIS. My thinking is I will need the cantilever style mount to allow for the BUIS but will I still be able to back off the charging handle and still maintain 3 to 4 inches from the eye piece (ocular) for sufficient eye relief? Again, thanks guys for keeping a newbie straight.

Well I didn't see a need to start a whole new deal just to say the correct mount is on it's way, I received the AD Recon S1 for Christmas but had to return it in exchange for the 30mm, my mistake totally. Also went ahead an ordered the SSHD 1x4 today, what a deal - Happy New Year to All!
