I loaned out one of my rifles to a friends son it has a z3 on it I recieved it back a little bit ago. The tube has a big dent in it I don't suppose there is any place that fixes that sort of thing??

I am guessing I am out scope... oh well.

Does it cause any malfunction or is it purely cosmetic?

Have you talked your friends son and asked him what happened?  I'd be asking them to replace if it were me.

I think I'd be having a rap session with my "friend" and his son.

I don't want to discourage the kid from hunting.

I will talk to has family maybe he could do some odd jobs around the place or something. Right now I am not too concerned at all.
I just thought I could find a place to have it repaired not a big deal.

The Z5 I have fell or slide off the wall i had it leaned on and hit right were the objective bell changes from straight tube.  it indented slightly but enough for me to notice every now and then.  I tested it and it had no ill effects.  For giggles I contacted Swaro, they said to send it in and they'd take care of it no charge, i just pay shipping.  I haven't done it but may eventually.

How about discouraging the kid from being unethical, irresponsible, and disrespectful of other people's property?  I think that trumps your other concern.

I agree. That is why I am going to go over and talk to the family as a whole but, a young kid like that should be delt with by his parents not me.
He screwed up I will give him pass. Nice to see the kid out hunting with his dad rather than playing video games or hanging out at a state board park.

Good news, I received my scope back today. It cost me not a penny did not even have to pay for shipping. A while back I loaned a few of my rifles out to some under privileged youth for some hunting. One came back damaged I explained what happened to swaro and they have been nothing but great.
