Okay all, quick question.

The awesome wifey got me a georgous Mossy 500 combo for Xmas. 24" rifled catilever scope mount w/scope, and a 28" accu choke barrel. I also got a 18 1/2" cylinder bore barrel for it. But the question is; do the buckshot shooters use any type of optics besides bead sights? I'll have my scope mounted on the rifled barrel, but for those situations when I'm sitting in the creek bed in the thick stuff with the longest shot at 50 yards, or while sitting on the powerlines when the dogs are runnin em and you only have a few seconds to get em before their gone.
I bought a rail to mount on top of the receiver for when I'm not using the rifled barrel but now am looking for suggestions/personal experiences for buckshot (deer) or Turkey shooting. Such as a FastFire Red Dot? The only drawback on this is taking off the slug barrel and scope is easy, mounting the rail on the receiver is also easy, but ensuring zero on the optics after mounting (during hunting season isnt easy).... OH WOW! this means I need JUST a BuckSHot GUN! Smile lol seriously though...... any input?

Thanks
Alex

This is what I have on my Remington 870, I use it for Turkey only, you could also use it for deer. For sighting in on Turkey just dial it up to 4.5 and at 40 yards, sight it in so most of the shot is with-in the circle of the scope. Just remember different shot size and shells are going to pattern different. You would have to re-sight everytime you changed shells.

How about an EOTech?  I've got one on my turkey gun, an 870, just for fun.  There's no magnification, a wide view, and it shoots where the red dot is, regardless of the shooter's head position.  These work together to make a very fast scope.

Eotech, Aimpoint, Vortex StrikeFire, Burris Xtreme tactical red dot, Bushnell 4200 1-4X.

For close-range work, I like less magnification.  Inside 50-100 yards, ANY magnification is bad, in my opinion.
