Shame on you Eileen! Grits are the glue that hold all the other ingredients together.  Like Tofu take on teh taste and what they are seasoned with and are an excellent hot breakfast to fight the cold.  Do you hate oakmeal too?

I like oatmeal, with a little brown sugar and chopped pecans.  But you got me on tofu, too.   I used to have a vegan roomie, and I can attest that there is nothing so foul as tofu gone bad.

Ever heard of "Stinky Tofu???"  Saw it on Andrew Zimmer's show.  The vile looking sewage water the lady was soaking them in almost turned his stomach.

Since I work with quite a few Chinese I asked around and it turned out a friend Mark Chou loves the stuff and had actually just returned from a China business trip with 2 other american engineers.  They said he had eaten so much of the stuff while there that he was sweating it.  They made him take a seperate taxi to the airport in China and sat as far away from him as they could on the plane cause he smelled so bad.

Eileen Clarke bless your heart you don't like grits?  Girl, that is a staple in my home. Breakfast and dinner, next your going to say you don't like cornbread and turnip greens. LOL!!

Try this, a 3 inch square of cornbread and two heaping scoops of turnip greens on top DO NOT Drain them first.  best poor mans lunch around.
We'll make a Southerner out of you yet.

There is nothing better than making some gravy using ground up deer meat with some buttermilk biscuits.
