I have a new lease I am leasing this year, we can not use feeders and it is to late to try to plant any greens. not in cluding all the acorns on the ground right now. I am in east texas and was looking at getting a deer caller to bring them in.
any suggestions of do's and don'ts
you can lead a deadhorse to water, but you can not make him drink

I've never hunted Texas so I don't know how the deer there react to calling.  I've tried it and have come to the conclusion that,at least for me where I hunt,it's best to use a call as a last resort.  In other words,if I see a deer and it's projected path doesn't seem like it's going to provide a shot,I've got nothing to lose but try a call.  How they react seems to be hit or miss. This does not refer to calling to stop a moving deer for a shot.  As far as calling them in,sight unseen I've just not had it happen for me.  I've been hunting deer for over 30yrs and I just don't find them to be as vocal as commercial advertisement/videos would have us believe.  Of course other opinions may vary.

https://shop.primos.com/pc-889-9-buck-roar.aspx  the Primos Buck Roar is the call that works best.  They are not always callable but around the rut and a little before they will react like a  homing beacon was set off if  you call and use horns to raddle.  The videos Primos sells shows how it is done and it is extremely effective.  One thing though you call they are looking at  you and I've had them knock me off at 600 yds when I reached back for my bow as they were comming straight toward me.
