I am looking for a general purpose SS.  1 main use will be looking in tall Hardwood Trees for acorn crops.  I will also use for detail stuff while hunting, and I have a nice pair of Kahles 8x42 binoculars this will compliment those.  I would like something that I could use without having to have a tripod.

You need a long scope then so  you can hold it stable.

Swarovski have extendable scopes that can be handheld, they are also supplying it with a screw to mount it on a tree.

I have an old 30x75 but i think nowadays the model name is CT85

Regards Technika

They are sold in the US by a certain company, only. Just use google. They are not waterproof, and you cannot handhold and steady a 30x, no matter what halfwits tell you. Great scope, though.

I tried it, and i would say no. the image would be shaky enough that you would not see details and would have to strain your eyes/brain to understand the image. If it is more than 10 or 12x, you need a tripod, or an image stabilized device like Fujinon or Canon.

Try a nikon 50 ED. It can be handheld at 20X and see details. it will be shaky but you can clearly see details.
