Just wanted to post this thread to give thanks and praise for the veterans who participated in this monumental event on June 6, 1944. I am ashamed I did not post this much sooner in the day.
I feel for the youth of today that do not understand the importance, or for that matter ,don't even know what D-Day is.
I believe there are many in this country that fail to be greatful for the courage, honor, and sheer patriotism that these brave souls had, to look an enemy in the eye and storm these open beaches and give their all, that we would have the life and freedom we enjoy.

So many never fired a single round in their own defense. I hate that they were sent into such a killing field. But, courage and valor was defined repeatedly and for those men and so many more I was honored to serve this nation. For their honor I will hold true the values they defended. Atleast they won't have to see what they fought for under the rule of this present anti-America muslem. If God hadn't shown that these things must be, I wouldn't be able to bare it.
God Love and Bless the families of those men of courage.

For the most part, the Americans of today aren't worth the blood these brave sould shed, and bled. I thank the good Lord above for those that are worth the effort of those that did so.

"Hoot": When I go home people'll ask me, "Hey Hoot, why do you do it man? What, you some kinda war junkie?" You know what I'll say? I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is.
"Hoot": This is my safety, sir.
Memorable quotes for
We Were Soldiers Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: Oh, yes, and one more thing, dear Lord, about our enemies, ignore their heathen prayers and help us blow those little bastards straight to Hell. Amen.
Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: [Hal Moore speaks to his men before going into battle] Look around you. In the 7th cavalry, we've got a captain from the Ukraine; another from Puerto Rico. We've got Japanese, Chinese, Blacks, Hispanics, Cherokee Indians. Jews and Gentiles. All Americans. Now here in the states, some of you in this unit may have experienced discrimination because of race or creed. But for you and me now, all that is gone. We're moving into the valley of the shadow of death, where you will watch the back of the man next to you, as he will watch yours. And you won't care what color he is, or by what name he calls God. They say we're leaving home. We're going to what home was always supposed to be. Now let us understand the situation. We are going into battle against a tough and determined enemy. [pauses] Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: I can't promise you that I will bring you all home alive. But this I swear, before you and before Almighty God, that when we go into battle, I will be the first to set foot on the field, and I will be the last to step off, and I will leave no one behind. Dead or alive, we will all come home together. So help me, God. Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: Seen the new rifles too, the M-16.
Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: That's supposed to be a pretty good weapon. Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: Ahh, lotsa plastic. Feels like a BB gun to me. Believe I'm gonna stick with my pistol. Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: Think we're gonna get close enough to the enemy to use that? Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: What do you think, sir? Edited by Urimaginaryfrnd - June/07/2009 at 12:35 |

It gave me an opportunity to give my son a history lesson. His Granddad that he can only know by my stories of him. It gave me pride and pain going over some of it. My Dad was my best friend, who died a few hours before my wedding. My father was with the 3rd from North Africa to almost the Rhine before his wounding sent him home. We found this, I always thought he was Awarded the Star the same time he got the Purple Heart. But that was not the case. He was a B.A.R. man on a forward LP when he got the this. He never talked about it.

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived. George S. Patton |

"Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only
prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. The cause of liberty, the cause of American, cannot succeed with any lesser effort." -- President John F. Kennedy, January 29, 1961 |

June 6. It is my Grandfather's and my fathers birthday. Grandpa served in WWII. It was the brave men and women who on 6-6-44 crossed over to drive out the nazis. I thank them for their service.
