Hello all!
So I got a Daniel Defense Mk12 "SPR." My goal is to have it cover the 100-600 yard range and hit small game at a far distance. It will almost entirely be a benchrest rifle, however. As this is my first rifle entering this range, I need some help finding a scope for this .223. 2.5-10 power? May be on the low end, but I think that might still be okay. I'm thinking about nightforce or a mark 4 leupold. The rifle was $2k, so I do want to give some glass that does the rifle justice. Thanks! |

Swfa ss 3-9x or 3-15x. Either would fit well IMO

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

I have the 2.5-10x42 Nightforce and really like it. Mine rides a 16" 308 gas gun and is a great 100-600 yard scope. My scope's illumination is tricky, it never works quite as advertised, but is much better than the older NXS system. Glass is nice and sharp, turrets are what you expect, and reticles aren't great but not as big a deal in an SFP scope anyway.
I also have the SS3-9 and 3-15. Neither has illumination, the 3-9 has better turrets, both have the same reticle (model depending), glass is good in both, and the price for either is quite enticing for the application. You don't need illumination, turrets are very personal in what you want vs what you don't like, reticles too, and you don't seem to be leaning strongly in any one direction. Were it me, I would probably do the 3-9SS (actually, now that I think about it, I have almost that exact same rifle, DD, but mine has a longer rail and not the Mk12 gas block. Mine wears a 3-9SS with a RMR offset.) I'll try to get a picture up of mine. I don't buy Leupold, too many better options at better prices, in my opinion - so can't help there.

The 3-9x SS was actually designed to do the very work required of a DMR. It's a very capable optic and ridiculously low priced.
