What a wonderful father!

You may be forgiven for thinking that any man would look proud after catching a large barracuda as he poses with the fish and his 14 year-old daughter at the marina afterwards.

Then you may wonder why his daughter looks less than thrilled.

14 year old Coral Wira was sitting in a boat while her father fished. Suddenly she saw a silver flash in the air. The barracuda had thrown the hook and grabbed her arm.

Father managed to kill the fish with a knife in the head.

But Coral, needed 51 stitches.

And he felt the need to pose for photos before taking her to hospital!

I see from her shirt that Stetson University is the place to go. It's a rather expensive private college in Deland, FL. If pop sent her there, he has more dollars than sense. Trust me I know!

OUCH!

I get off-shore a couple of times a year. Last year I was fighting a Kingfish "King Mackerel" and felt a big hit on it. I reeled in 1/2 a kingfish that still weighed 28 pounds. We got a good look at the Cuda that did it because he cut several of our fish in half. Nasty big pointy teeth.

Couple of friends are divers.  They tell me they are far more afraid of those things than they are sharks.

Baracuda is my favorite fish to eat. They say the big ones can build up toxins. The Baracuda have the whitest meat and the best flavor of any fish from the Gulf. A school would stay over the Empire Mica at 40 feet. They would sometimes try to steal your fish when you came up from a dive.
