Purchased a CZ American 17hmr. Posted earlier about a scope and still need one. Have a couple more questions as I am a somewhat of a novice rifle shooter.
Stock slightly touches right side of barrell. Should I sand the entire interior of the fore end of the stock enough that it no longer touches?
Length of pull is slightly short for me.... should I get a rubber recoil pad to extend? Where would I find one that fits the gun properly?
Have decided to get a decent ( under $400) scope.  Narrowed to Nikon 4-16 x42 Monarch, Bushnell 3200 and 4200 in similar power and Nikon Buckmaster all with adjustable focus. Is mil dot reticle something that would be helpful on 17hmr with most shots in the 125yd and less range? Also any thoughts about these model scopes?
Sorry for all the ?  hope to get an answer or two.

YOU picked a NICE gun with GOOD scope choices IMHO- I don't think you would go wrong with either scope you pick.  I have two 17HMR's one has a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18x40 BDC SF and a Mueller 4.5x14x40 AVP. Both serve well. It really depends on how much you really want to spend. IS the mil-dot helpful IMHO...NO it is not necessary for the HMR, but if you ever want to move the scope to another gun it maybe handy. Yes I would make sure that the barrel is floated. Good luck and lets know what you went with....WELCOME to the forum some great people here with alot of good info.....

I would shoot the rifle first before I started sanding on the stock. It may be a tack driver as it is.
If you had someone install a recoil pad on the buttstock, they would grind it down to be flush with the wood and it would "fit" your rifle when he was through.     Big%20Smile    --Ed
