Got a CVA Accura muzzle loader as a bonus and received a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 as a gift.  Going to be mounting the scope, but there is a rub.  In South Dakota, you can NOT use a scope during muzzle loader season.  You can use it scoped during rifle season or any other season, but not muzzle loader season.  Need a setup that I can add/remove the scope easily.  Need ideas.

What about the Warne Maxima two piece base and quick detach rings?

That could very well work.  Don't look like they have a 1 piece base, but the 2 piece would be fine.  How much clearance do the quick detach rings require in order to lock securely?

Before I answer, I want to make sure I am clear on what you are asking.  When you say clearance, are you referring to clearance between the lever on the rings and the scope or rifle?  I don't know measurement wise, but I used them on my 10/22 so that I could shoot irons and optics and had no problems mounting the Weaver 2-7 rimfire scope.  You can also index the lever after they are tightened, so it can be positioned in the exact orientation you want.

I was asking about the lever and it clearing the barrel/scope when you tighten them.  Figuring on low rings here due to the 32mm obj. so clearance between the barrel and scope bell should not be a problem.  How many rotations does it take to tighten the QT rings?  1/2 turn, 1/4 turn?

That's what I thought.  About a 1/4 turn if my memory serves me correctly, haven't played with the 10/22 in a while.  If you don't mind, after you have put the rifle through it paces, could you give me your impressions.  I am looking at replacing my old Knight T-Bolt.

Can do.  Once I get a chance to run her, will post in the range report.  Thanks for the insight.

cpwomack,  link to range report.  So Far big thumbs up.  Yet to test on game, but the ML functions very well.
