Is it crazy to buy a Kahles for a good price given the company's troubles? I keep thinking what if I dropped it or something and the company is no more.
Thanks,
Sam

What if you were hunting and lost another brand in a stream or something.  Ya pays your money and takes your chances.  I think your concern is reasonable, but we don't know what things will be like in five years for any of these companies. I think the market will shrink soon given the concerns over the economy.  Kahles could be the next company bought by Beretta or Bushnell.

I don't think it's crazy to go out and buy a thirty five year old Weaver scope.  But, I wouldn't be paying several hundred dollars for it, either.  But I would be willing to go out on a limb and say that Kahles is probably a way better scope than the El Paso Weaver.  So, if it were me, I wouldn't worry about buying a Kahles.

....................You can`t cross the `ol bridge until ya get to it. Meaning, if or when  you ever have a problem with a Kahles scope, the scope must be shipped to Europe for any warranty work. From what I understand there is no warranty repair facility in the states.

The turn around time from what I understand is around 30 to 90 days.

Depends on what your tolerance is for down time inconvenience.

If it were me, I wouldn`t take that chance even though the odds are slim for a Kahles to go haywire either through a defect or through my own fault.

Warranty issues, customer service and turn around time imo, is very important!

No. Read%20the%20Manual Lol. I meant I don't plan on it breaking or getting broken. Either way its a great scope and I love it. If it does break well I will cross that bridge when I get to it rain or shine but, for now I don't doubt my Kahles at all nor will I anytime soon. i  have been doing this literally my entire life and my beliefs of kahles are a superior quality scope that you will almost never have problems with (if treated correctly) and I will not doubt Kahles until it is a proven fact that I should doubt it. For now I would take it on any hunt anywhere and not look back once.

Yeah everytime I walk outside I look around subconciously waiting for the lightning to strike me rain or shine and I do not believe in radios in my vehicles something could break on them at any time and I want to be aware of it. LOL I am totally kidding Squeezer. I agree nothing is perfect no matter what. Everything has its flaws and any man made or machine made product on this earth could fail at any given moment but, I still have a lil something called faith my momma tought me bout in my Kahles. Kahles gained my respect over the years.

Anyway, I am also with the majority here and would have no problem buying a Kahles today and hunting with it (especially if it was a deal), in fact I just did and will not lose a wink of sleep over it.  I went with the 4-12x52.

...........Well! Earlier this year, I tried to buy from SWFA, the (discontinued) 2x7 Helia CL for my Alaskan. There was an inventory screw-up by Edgar. He confirmed the order via the computer without a hands on stock check. Computer said it one was there, but was sold instead............Hey! I tried.................But! I`m very happy with the 1.5-5x20 #4 VX3 you sent me!..........
